2009 Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival Composers Commission

Following the success of the 2006, ’07 and ’08 Melbourne Jazz Fringe Commissions, which resulted in the creation of extraordinary new works by Jex Saarelaht, Colin Hopkins and Erik Griswold, the Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival is now calling for submissions for the 2009 Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival Commission.

The Commission provides $1000 to a composer to write an extended work for an ensemble (greater than 5 piece) of his or her choice and also provides rehearsal and performance fees for ensemble players. The commissioned work will be presented at the 2009 Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival.

Interested parties are asked to provide a brief description of their proposal and a biography on one A4 page (font size 12 pt minimum). This should be emailed to andrew@melbournejazzfringe.com. Audio support material is also welcome (1 CD) and should be sent to:

Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival, Commission Submission
PO Box 2197
St Kilda West VIC 3182.

Applications must be received by no later than 5pm, Monday 2 February 2009; the winning submission will be announced on Friday 13 February 2009.

Interstate and international applicants please note The Commission does not cover the cost of airfares or accommodation.

Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival wishes to thank APRA, without whose invaluable assistance this event would not be possible
