“…first class saxophonist that blows the proverbial roof off the place and an accomplished stylist who uses her chords…with agility and sophistication”       – HRAYR ATTARIAN, ALL ABOUT JAZZ

Described in All About Jazz as “Vocalist, multi-instrumentalist Camille Thurman is not just another girl singer accessorizing with a horn. She is a first class saxophonist that blows the proverbial roof off the place and an accomplished stylist who uses her vocal cords like she does her various woodwinds, with agility and sophistication.”

Camille Thurman is ready to grace our shores for an exclusive appearance at the Sydney International Womens’s Jazz Festival.  We should mention that as far as singing goes, Camille is no slouch having been the runner up in the 2013 International Sarah Vaughan Vocal Competition. She is also a two-time award winning recipient of the ASCAP Herb Alpert Young Jazz Composers award. Her compositions were featured and performed by her quartet in the ASCAP/ Kennedy Center.

JK:  What is your biggest inspiration?

CT:  My biggest inspiration are the mentors I’ve been blessed to have, learn from  and the musicians I grew up listening to; Antoine Roney, George Coleman, Buster Williams, Patrice Rushen, Dianne Reeves, Terri Lyne Carrington

JK:  What are you looking forward to on your visit to Sydney?

CT:  I’m looking forward to performing with, sharing and meeting other great musicians  and creating music that the people will love.

JK:   What can audiences expect to hear?

CT:  The audience can expect to hear exciting, uplifting music and see a dynamically powerful performance that takes them on an exciting  musical journey
