Young drummer, Daniel Susnjar, founder member of the group K, former WAYJO drummer and one of Perth’s most outstanding young players has just been awarded the ArtsWA Young People and the Arts Creative Development Fellowship.
After an unsuccessful application 2 years ago, Daniel headed off for a self-funded research trip in 2003 to New York to study and focus on his musical direction. His persistence has paid off, and the $10,000 award will now enable him to undertake an intensive study period in New York with leading drummers, developing his own compositional approach to jazz, world and fusion music.
Following on from last years winner, Des White (currently in New York), this is another success for our young WA musicians.
