FREE nationwide program of Songwriting for Teachers in 2015 is being offered by Music Australia in partnership with Musical Futures Australia.

Musical Futures Australia’s expert tutors will actively engage teachers in approaches to songwriting to use immediately in their classrooms. Teachers will have the opportunity to write and record their own songs on the day in a supportive and collaborative environment.

The workshops offer inventive techniques for teaching contemporary songwriting enabling teachers to engage with students with a fresh, hands-on approach. Teachers are supplied with a take home resource pack including lesson plans to be used in the classroom and offer creative approaches to working with students. Teachers also have the opportunity to develop their own songwriting skills under the guidance of professional songwriters and education experts.

Musical Futures believe that music learning works best for young students when they are involved in making music, drawing out students’ passion for music with an informal, collaborative classroom environment. The Musical Futures Australia approach is revolutionising music education in schools across the world, including more than 300 Australian primary and secondary schools.

Building on the success of Music: Count Us In, Music Australia continues to extend opportunities to senior primary and secondary teachers to develop their music skills and increase their confidence in teaching music to their students.

The workshops will be held across New South Wales, South Australia and Victoria. For workshop dates, see attached information. To secure a spot in one of the workshops across the country, head to the Music Australia website.
