Following the success of the 2006, '07, ‘08 and '09 Melbourne Jazz Fringe Commissions, which resulted in the creation of extraordinary new works by Jex Saarelaht, Colin Hopkins, Erik Griswold, and Ren Walters, the Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival is now calling for submissions for the 2010 Melbourne Jazz Fringe Festival Commission.

The Mark Ginsburg Band launches their debut CD at The Basement on Wednesday 26th August. The material is based on a body of research work that Mark is conducting as part of his Master's degree at the Sydney Conservatorium. He is exploring the linkages between Jewish cantorial singing and jazz improvisation. Music on the album draws on ancient prayer modes which have been handed down through the centuries....
