Release Date: 2 August 2005 The national jazz website, jazz.org.au will be officially launched in the Northern Territory on Sunday 7th August at Darwin’s most popular underground venue The Kitchen.

The event will be hosted as part of The Kitchen’s new initiative ‘Sounds Of Sunday’ – a regular program that showcases original groove orientated music styles on the first Sunday of every month. This event is part of the vibrant Darwin Fringe Festival.

Darwin-based record label and events organiser Powerfunk is pleased to be taking on the role of jazz.org.au representative for the Northern Territory, and will be assisting with increasing awareness of the site in the local scene.

As part of the launch campaign, over 400 invites have been sent out and Powerfunk is enthusiastic about the opportunity presented for jazz artists to gain national exposure through on-line promotion.

“I am excited to be involved in this project. It’s a privilege to have JIGSAW be one of the first bands in the NT to be promoted on jazz.org.au There has been little support for us jazz artists in the Northern Territory – this site is an opportunity to be recognised nationally.” Jack Tinapple from JIGSAW and Powerfunk

Showcase bands at the launch include: Winking Camels, Francis Diatschenko, Jillaine Jones and JIGSAW.

Jazz musicians attending will be encouraged to register on the spot and The Kitchen will provide an online computer for interested attendees to browse the jazz.org.au site.
