Lionel ColeOne of jazz music’s finest pedigrees will be represented at the 2013 ‘Manly Jazz’ festival over the October long weekend (Saturday 5 – Monday 7 October) when pianist, songwriter, composerManly Jazz Festival 2013, and music editor Lionel Cole takes to the stage.

From a storied musical family, Lionel is the nephew of Nat King Cole, the cousin of Natalie Cole and the son of Grammy nominated jazz vocalist Freddy Cole.

Lionel has made inroads of his own with a long list of credits to his name including serving as a regularly touring member Mariah Carey's live band, co-writing her billboard chart topping single ‘Through the Rain’ which appeared on her studio album ‘Charmbracelet’.

There is a wide range of jazz over this long weekend with appearances from John Morrison appearing with songbird Jacki Cooper and one of Australia’s finest guitarist, the legendary George Golla, performing a mixture of old standards and new material from their new album 'The Journey'. Award winning vocalist Emma Pask will be performing with her Emma Pask Quartet, acclaimed jazz artist Warwick Alder leads a collection of talented musicians recreating two iconic jazz albums, ‘Birth of the Cool' (Miles Davis Nonet, 1957) and ‘The Blues & The Abstract Truth’ (Oliver Nelson, 1961).
