Set in the late seventies, during the five-year window where Davis stopped performing. Miles Ahead is on limited release around Australia from 16 June, 2016.

“If you’re going to tell a story, come with an attitude,” declares Miles Davis (Don Cheadle) in the opening minutes of “Miles Ahead,”

A unique and wild portrait of a towering artist, Miles Ahead is the story of one of the world’s finest musicians, through his drug-addled days in the late 1970s.

Cheadle, as well as staring in this move also handles co-writing and directing duties, giving him rein to create a subjective riff on Davis. Erratic, unpredictable and constantly intriguing.

Holed up in his Manhattan apartment, Miles Davis (Don Cheadle) is wracked with pain, desperate for the next cheque from his record company and haunted by memories of old glories, humiliations, and of his years with his great love Frances Taylor (Emayatzy Corinealdi).

A shady would-be journalist posing as a Rolling Stone reporter (Ewan McGregor) cons his way in, Davis takes off into the night with the reporter in tow, intent on tracking down the producers who have the tapes of his most recent work and stealing them back.

We haven’t seen the movie yet, but we have tickets to giveaway and we’d love to hear your comments.
