Some of Australia’s most talented jazz acts are set to grace Toowoomba with their presence this Easter, as Australia’s largest and longest running drug and alcohol free music festival, Easterfest, launches it’s Easter Jazz program.

A separately ticketed event, Easter Jazz will run alongside the main Easterfest program showcasing ARIA award-winning acapella group, The Idea Of North, and international award-winning vocalist Kristin Berardi. Throughout the weekend Easter Jazz ticket-holders will be able to immerse themselves in some of the finest jazz, funk and blues talent, in the intimacy of the exclusive Toowoomba CBD jazz venue, a specially themed location that will harness the intimate ‘jazz vibes’ of the Easter Jazz experience.

Returning again in 2014 is The Jazz Supper Club event, a high energy concert experience that will be held at “The Palace” Queens Park venue. Having launched to a standing room only audience in 2013, the Jazz Supper Club is the pinnacle of the Easter Jazz program.

The Idea of North, internationally celebrated acapella ensemble will headline this 120 minute feast of interpretation, improvisation and inspiration. This jazz showcase will feature a string of guests including one of Australia’s most celebrated jazz vocalists, Kristin Berardi who will be joined by Melbourne guitarist James Sherlock; ABC Jazz recording artist Sharny Russell; eclectic pianist Chris Poulsen; and famously quirky SCAT vocalist, Craig Burnett, who will also host the evening.

This compelling line-up of world-class entertainment is set to take listeners on a journey of beauty, depth, energy and amusement. The Easter Jazz Program will also include performances by local Toowoomba Jazz Society members as they exhibit a variety of local talent, Brisbane songstress Natalie De Jager, jazz-fusion group The Chris Poulsen Trio, and Brisbane jazz hipsters, SCAT.

Also featured as part of the program are Blues and Funk showcases which will highlight some of the high class acts of these genres involved in the Easterfest program. Easter Jazz is a first time collaboration between the Easterfest team and Brisbane agencies Wholetone Creative and CraigCreates, representing an exciting new undertaking for the much loved festival.

Festival organiser, Emma Poulsen from Wholetone Creative says, “We’re really excited to be working with Easterfest to bring yet another diverse offering to Easter Festival goers. We’ve got a world-class lineup of Australian Jazz musicians, and are looking forward to presenting some really quality music to contribute to Easterfest and the message of Easter”. Easter Jazz will launch on the evening of Thursday 17th April, and finish on the evening of Sunday 20th April. Tickets are available from the Easterfest website.
