The program for Stonnington Jazz 2009 has been announced and highlights include a celebration of Vince Jones’s three decades in music and trumpeter Phil Slater’s interpretation of compositions by Peter Sculthorpe.

The festival’s artistic director Adrian Jackson says the event—now in it’s fourth year—offers a range of other musical experiences, including Chris McNulty, Nichaud Fitzgibbon, Don Burrows, Scott Tinkler and Steve Magnusson.

“Some artists will be coming from interstate, and one, Chris McNulty, will be visiting from New York where she now lives. But the majority of performers will be locals, a fact which emphasises what an exceptionally fertile music scene we have here in Melbourne,” says Jackson.

Concerts will be held at the Malvern Town Hall in Glenferrie Road, and Chapel Off Chapel in Little Chapel Street, Prahran.

Stonnington Jazz 2009 takes place from 14 – 23 May.

Tickets are $10 – $38 and can be bought by calling the Chapel Off
Chapel Box Office on 8290 7000 or via www.chapeloffchapel.com.au
