Following the appointment of Umbria Jazz Festival’s Carlo Pagnotta as Artistic Director of the Melbourne International Jazz Festival (after the resignation of Adrian Jackson), the event will be revamped as Umbrian Jazz in Melbourne in May 2005 (the seventh festival).

With an exciting major international component proposed (but with possibly less Australian content), it seems that an announcement of a very substantial increase in current modest levels of State funding support via Major Event funding is imminent.

Chairman Albert Dadon has been working on the booking of some Australian artists.
