Perth band Void, well received on its current US tour, has been invited to the Houston International Jazz Festival in August.

JazzWA coordinator Alan Corbet said the feedback so far has been “fantastic”, although funding will be a big issue in determining whether Void will be able to take up the offer.

In Houston the band performed on television and got a very good reception at their gig that night.

Interestingly, Mr Corbet also reported that Adelaide group etypejazz, who were touring at the same time, also managed to get on television in Los Angeles and New York. No mean feat given the difficulty of getting television coverage for jazz in Australia.

The Jazz Australia website will soon be publishing an interview with Void keyboardist Tom O’Halloran.
