Since April a slew of international artists including Ravi Coltrane, Lee Ritenour, Spyro Gyra and John Schofield have graced the stage to Melbourne’s newest jazz venue.
Reminiscent of an old school night club, with Blue Velvet curtains and a dining option, Blue Bird’s has a feeling of luxury in the air.
On the night I was there for Karrin Allyson, it was a shame that the room wasn’t full. One can imagine that a full house would carry quite a buzz.
Next month the venue is focussing on Latin music, and there is also local resident Bird’s Big Band and Australian artists such as Joe Chindamo, Mike Nock, Hetty Kate (small image) and Michelle Nicole rounding out the bill.
