Jazz Queensland is excited to announce Brisbane’s inaugural International Jazz Festival to be held from May 29th to June 6th 2013. The festival is a much anticipated event among the Qld music community and is poised to be one of the largest and most diverse festivals of its kind in Australia.

Jazz Qld president Lynette Irwin says she is thrilled to unveil Brisbane's premier festival of jazz, announcing the first round of key artists to headline an innovative program of International and Australian Jazz acts, bringing together World class Jazz Artists and Queensland audiences, providing unique access to the arts, and rare engagement opportunities with a diverse range of national and international jazz artists. While also maintaining Jazz Qld's commitment to the community through affordable ticket prices and presenting mostly, free public events.

Brisbane International Jazz Festival (BIJF) is one of Jazz Qld’s major programs of events and will replace the former biennial Valley Jazz Festival project, to develop a new festival model that better meets the needs of Queensland’s vibrant music community, while also contributing towards Brisbane’s profile as a New World City.

The full program will be officially launched on Tuesday April 30th at 12:00pm in the Queen Street Mall, following the annual International Jazz Day parade to be led by Jazz virtuoso James Morrison.
