National crowdfunding roadshow: how to work the crowd. In 2011, 'the crowd' pledged almost $1.5 billion to projects on crowdfunding platforms across the world. Arts and culture have proved a perfect fit for crowdfunding campaigns. Raising small donations from growing online audiences can be a quick and cost effective choice. After her recent successful campaign, singer and musician Amanda Palmer described crowdfunding as "the future". So why are there still so many campaigns on crowdfunding platforms that fail to reach their goal?

The Australia Council for the Arts, led by its philanthropic arm, Artsupport Australia, has embarked on a national strategy to explore the opportunities in crowdfunding for cultural and creative projects. You are invited to our national roadshow to hear the results of a pilot program and research commissioned by the Australia Council.

Join Caroline Vu of the Artsupport Australia team and Elliott Bledsoe, Digital Content Officer of the Australia Council to hear:

Practical tips on how to run successful campaigns, including setting your target; planning your campaign; developing compelling pitches; and spreading the word.

What to do when it all looks like it's going wrong and ultimately, how to turn one-time backers into lifetime supporters.

Case studies from people who have been successful with crowdfunding.

Findings of the commissioned research undertaken by Queensland University of Technology Creative Industries.

Each session will also include one-on-one question time with the panellists and the Artsupport Australia Manager for your state or territory, so come armed with your questions and ideas for campaigns.
