After delivering the 5th biennial Valley Jazz Festival, Andrew Shaw is departing in his role with Jazz Queensland as Festival Artistic Director to focus on his ‘real job’ as professional musician.
Andrew was appointed Artistic Director of the inaugural festival in 2004 presented by Jazz Queensland, and has since delivered 5 consecutive programs presenting the forefront of contemporary Australian jazz and across Brisbane’s Live Music Precinct Fortitude Valley. The festival was initiated out of a growing need for a contemporary jazz festival and remains Brisbane’s only multi venue jazz festival, critically focused on the jazz artform, by presenting the most compelling and innovative accomplishments in Australian jazz and creative improvised music.

Jazz Queensland President Lynette Irwin says Andrew has meticulously curated 5 outstanding programs and gratefully acknowledges his enormous contributions to our community and Queensland’s jazz sector. The fifth Valley Jazz Festival since 2004, presented by Jazz Queensland Incorporated ran for five days from Wednesday 25th May to Sunday 29th May 2011 in Fortitude Valley.
