If you were thinking of attending jazzahead! or putting in an application for a showcase, for the first time in 2015, national export initiative SOUNDS AUSTRALIA will be coordinating an Australian presence at jazzahead! by investing in an Australian stand at the trade show.

jazzahead! is the most important international jazz trade show, including its integrated showcase festival. For the past eight years, the trade fair has been steadily growing and the showcase festival has established itself as one of the most important international networking spaces for jazz musicians.

For musicians interested in applying to showcase, you can now do so as a Co-exhibitor of SOUNDS AUSTRALIA. Please note that if you are accepted, you will have to make your own way and there is no fee for performing at the showcase.

To apply to showcase, or register to attend, please visit Sounds Australia for all the details and links

If you want to read more about jazzahead! and how it operates, check out this interview with Peter Schulze, co-Artistic Director

  1. Joanne Kee very kindly passed on to me the information that Sounds Australia are going to have a stand at the Jazz Ahead music conference in late April next year. I am a musician based in Berlin – although I am from Australia – and I have booked my own stand at this conference and Joanne suggested that it might be much more practical if I shared the stand with Sounds Australia at this conference.

I wrote to Maleni Piyasiri earlier and enquired about the possibility to be able to make a change to my booking. She is currently away until January 8th and I am flying back to Europe next week but I would imagine I should hear back from her soon.

If it at all would be possible to have a share in the Sounds Australia stand this would be really really great. I hadn’t quite worked out the practicality of such an option and having my own stand might be much more trouble than it’s actually worth now that I have properly thought out through things..

Please contact me back when you get a chance and wish you and your families a very happy new year and all the very best in 2015!

    Daniel
