2016, Perth’s fourth year

The Perth International Jazz Festival (PIJF) returns to the city from  Friday 3 June – Sunday 5 June 2016.

“Perth International Jazz Festival is a fantastic celebration of music that can be enjoyed by a huge range of people. There really is something for everyone in this program and it’s fantastic to see so many talented artists converge on our wonderful city for a weekend of great music, food, wine and fun – don’t miss it”, said Mr. Wood.

This years festival has over 50 jazz performances taking place across numerous venues throughout Perth.

The festivals two headline acts will both perform at Jazz at Brookfield Place. Grammy-nominated ‘future soul’ quartet Hiataus Kaiyote (MEL) and the Yellowjackets (USA), legends of jazz fusion, will headline.

In a huge coup for West Australian jazz, Perth bass-extraordinaire Dane Alderson is the newest member to join Yellowjackets and will perform at PIJF as part of their international touring band, as well on their upcoming album.

Other artists include Alex Da Costa & Graham Wood Trio (PER) and Christ McNulty (USA),  Grammy-winning saxophonist Gary Bartz (USA); Israeli Pianist Shai Maestro (ISRAEL, USA); Australian producer, pianist and composer Stu Hunter (SYD); saxophonist and composer, Sergio Galvao (BRAZIL); celebrated jazz vocalist Hetty Kate (MEL), and internationally renowned guitarist Lionel Loueke (AUS) (accompanied by The Vampires (AUS)
