The Australian Jazz Archive and ScreenSound Australia has collaborated to produce a CD of recordings by the legendary Australian band, The Southern Jazz Group.

Formed in Adelaide in 1945, the Group went on to take the first Australian Jazz Convention in Melbourne in 1946 by storm and has been recognised as one of the most influential outfits in Australian jazz history. The band made nearly a hundred recordings for several labels, many of which have not been released. This CD contains all the releases by Memphis records and a selection of their other recordings.

The CD has been extensively researched and painstakingly restored and the booklet comes with complete discography and background notes.

Includes many players who became household names such as Dave Dallwitz and Bill Munro.

Memphis Records, The Southern Jazz Group and Friends, a double CD set, is available for $24.95 including GST from the ScreenSound Australia shop and
selected outlets.
