September last year, the Chris Poulsen Trio recorded a live double album over two nights at Jazzworx Club (Brisbane). The large, enthusiastic turnout for both nights made for a perfect environment for this intensely interactive group. Capturing the gigs’ positive vibe, this exciting new recording features two energetic sets of playful jazz/fusion – one disc for each set.
There’s everything from fast swing, grooves in odd time, and hammond soul, even some eastern influences. Though quite varied and dynamic, the trio’s original tunes (and one standard) all remain pretty ‘up’ beat throughout.
The Chris Poulsen Trio will be launching this new album late April.
